The Engine Light
The
other day I was driving along in my car when all of a sudden the dashboard
illuminated the check engine light. “Oh
great, what’s wrong now?” I thought,
which was immediately followed by, “I wonder how much this is going to
cost?” It turned out to be an automated
signal based on mileage. It is an
immediate indicator that it’s time for regular maintenance, to ensure the car
runs smoothly, and not experience performance issues. It’s nice that our cars are advanced and
computerized with the ability to communicate with us so clearly. Wouldn’t it be nice if we had an engine light
for our lives, some sort of warning illumination, that it was time for
maintenance to prevent us from breaking down?
The get
real brutal honest truth is that this journey is sometimes hard. Sure, I’m at goal, but some days are so stressful,
and weekends can be tough. There’ve been
a few days recently that I was in complete grazing mode, unable to feel
satisfied. A joyful disclaimer is that I legally remained
on plan and didn’t go hog wild pigging out, thank God! The old me would have had many sugar coma
induced frenzies on those particular days.
The new me did not, but it was hard! I did eat right up to the maximum
amount allowed to still be considered on plan though. So, what’s the problem you ask? The problem is that I wasn’t even hungry at
all, but more importantly, I could feel myself slipping back into old habits. I saw a glimmer of how things used to
be. Insert a visual GIF here of a robot,
with flailing arms, shouting, “Danger Will Robinson, Danger!” (Young readers will have no idea who Will is
and older readers may not know what a GIF is.)
But it does mean I’m scared and decided I must write about this so I
don’t lose my way. I’ve come too far to
get lost in space now. I refuse to be a
yo-yo dieter again so I must address this.
Robin Sharma said, “Sometimes you have to get off track to remember the right path.” I decided it was a great time for a refresher course in what I learned and have tried to practice over the past several months. Stephen Covey says, “We’re all off track most of the time. Just realizing this is a significant step. But for many of us, the feeling of being off track brings with it discouragement, and despair. It needn’t and shouldn’t be so depressing. Knowing we’re off track is really an invitation to realign ourselves and recommit to our destination.” That’s what this week’s been for me, just like my car is due for service, I needed realignment. In case any of you are also in need of a between-the-ears realignment, here’s my focus for this week to get back on track. This week I focused on the law of attraction, in what you think about you attract into your life. God wants us to be healthy. God wants us to prosper. Life is meant to be abundant in all areas. Energy flows where attention goes. He tells us in 3 John 2, “I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.”
REALIGNMENT TUNE UP
ALIGN YOUR THOUGHTS
What
you strongly feel you attract into your reality. What you think in your mind you also bring
into your reality. I realized I was
starting to focus on slipping up instead of thinking about being
successful. What a man passionately
thinks, he becomes. Proverbs 23:7 says,
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Saint Augustine said, “Faith is to believe what you do not see; the
reward of this faith is to see what you believe.” This week I got back into the practice of
visualizing staying on plan, feeling satisfied, having great workouts, and
feeling amazing.
ALIGN YOUR BELIEFS
Louise Hay said, “I act as if I
already have what I want. It’s an
excellent way to attract happiness in my life.”
What is it you want in your life?
The secret is to act as if you already have that thing, are that person,
weigh that weight, or living that life of what you desire. This creates the positive happiness you need
to attract it into your life. Remember,
there’s always a divine solution to every problem. Jesus said, in Matthew 19:26, “With man this
is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Ask God for what you need and what you want. Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I tell you,
whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will
be yours.” My favorite quote from the
Alchemist says, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping
you to achieve it.” Hebrews 11:1 says,
“Now faith is confidence that what we hope for, will actually happen, it gives
assurance about the things we cannot see.
Faith is the belief and expectation in what we can’t yet see.”
ALIGN YOUR WORDS
What
you speak about you call into your reality.
What you talk about, you get the most of. Guard your words, as much as your thoughts,
to call into your life positive solutions to your problems instead of more of
your same problem. Mark 11:23-24 says,
“Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does
not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he
will have whatever he says.” Faith is
the substance of things we hope for and the evidence of things unseen. Our words are the carrier of the substance of
faith and our words can turn what we say into our physical reality. We can speak directly into our problems or
challenges, and create a new reality. I
now speak only success and positive things into my “mountain” of eating issues,
for I speak freedom from the control it held over me. I strive to no longer use negative words,
complaining about difficult days, or struggling to workout. That does not serve me, or my purpose. Philippians
4:7 it says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understand, will guard
your hearts and your minds.”
ALIGN YOUR VISION
What
you clearly imagine you create. When you
visualize you will materialize. If
you’ve been there in your mind, you’ll go there with your body, so visualize
the body you want. Visualize the workout
you want. Visualize climbing the
mountain, solving the problem, getting the promotion, or whatever it is you
desire. It first must happen in your
mind’s eye to see it come to pass. Always dwell on the end result. Feel the feeling of having
it in the now. That feeling will be the
open doorway to God’s power of the universe to make it come to be. St. Thomas Aquinas said, “An angel can
illuminate the thought and mind of man by strengthening the power of
vision.” Genesis 11:6 says, “And the
Lord said, ‘Behold, the people are one, and they have all one language; and
this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they
imagined to do.’” Habakkuk 2:3 says,
“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; It hastens to the end- it will
not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.”
ALIGN YOUR ATTITUDE
“If the
only prayer you ever say is ‘Thank you,’ that will be enough,” says Eckhart
Tolle. Gratitude is vital in your
happiness. Melody Beattie said,
“Gratitude makes sense of your past, brings peace for today, and creates a
vision for tomorrow.” I’m thankful for
my body and everything it does for me.
I’m grateful for my legs that take me places, my lungs that allow me to
keep living, and my eyes that enable me to see the faces of those I love. Practice returning to a state of gratitude,
first thing in the morning, and all throughout the day. Once
you are grateful for what you have, you will begin to attract what you want.
ALIGN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS
If you
want to attract, or improve a relationship, work on the relationship with
yourself to get other relationships to work.
What you focus on in others is what you will get more of. Focus on the good stuff and you’ll get more
of that. Only one person can be in
charge of your own happiness and bliss.
It’s only you! Your joy lies
within you. It’s not your job to change
the world or the people around you.
ALIGN TO RECEIVE
Feel
what it’s like to receive what you want in life. Feel the way you will feel when you have
it. Matthew 9:29 says, “According to
your faith be it done unto you.” Our
Angels are around us and they want what’s best for us. St. Francis de Sales said, “Make yourself
familiar with the angels, and behold them frequently in spirit; for without
being seen, they are present with you.” Sometimes
we are afraid of good things. If
something good happens we may wonder when the other shoe is going to drop. When something good happens we often hear the
whisper, “I wonder how long this will last and when will it end?” Ignore those voices for God says, “His favor
is for a lifetime.” Psalm 30:5.
ALIGN YOUR WORTHINESS
The
most important part in your journey is taking your power back and allowing
yourself to believe you deserve to win.
You deserve to heal. You deserve
God’s goodness. Ephesians 2:20 says, “We
are God’s masterpiece.” Psalm 18:19
says, “He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He
delighted in me.” We are all connected. Our body holds our spirit. We are from
God and we are energy in the likeness of God.
We have the power to create our world and to create our own
reality. We all have pasts, challenges,
and hardships. Everyone has a story, and it’s called, “So What!” The question is what are you going to focus
on now? That’s what you’ll create and
the past goes away. You can break free
of patterns of the past. We are the
author of our life. We begin where we are. We can generate a feeling of harmony
and happiness. The power within you,
from the power of Jesus, is greater than the power of the world.
